The summit is about bringing young people with leadership qualities together as a way to support the broader global voice of younger people and enabling them to lead the world for a better future.
The campaign urged people around the world to become ‘climate allies’ to apply pressure on world leaders to reach a just and binding deal at the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009. The response was phenomenal – more than 15 million people pledged their support.
We launched a ‘tck tck tck: Time for Climate Justice’ music track – a re-written and re-recorded version of Midnight Oil’s hit ‘Beds are Burning’. Recorded with 60 international music stars, the track includes Duran Duran, Marion Cotillard, Milla Jovovich, Fergie, Lilly Allen and Bob Geldof, who collaborated for free to show support for the campaign. Produced by The:Hours (Euro RSCG Worldwide’s record label bought in 2008 – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBTZOg6l6cA&feature=related) it was available as a free download on all major music platforms – the first ever global digital petition of its kind.
